You do not need professional design files to start a custom jewelry order. Many buyers begin with a simple photo of a piece they like. A good manufacturer can review the picture and tell you how it could be made. The clearer your reference, the faster and more accurate the reply will be.
Step 1: Take or collect clear photos
Send sharp, well-lit images that show the front, side and back if you can. Close-ups of clasps, stone settings and textures are especially useful, because those details affect how a piece is made and what it costs.
Step 2: Show the size
Sizes are hard to judge from a picture. Give the measurements you want, or include a ruler or coin in the photo. For rings, chains and bracelets, list the sizes or lengths you need.
Step 3: Say what to keep and what to change
Explain whether you want a close match or just something in a similar style. Tell the factory about any changes you want, such as a different color, stone or size, or your own logo.
Step 4: Share your quantity and market
Quantity affects both the production method and the price, so give a realistic figure. Your destination country also matters, because material rules differ between markets.
Step 5: Review the quotation
Ask the manufacturer to confirm the materials, finish, minimum order quantity, lead time, sample options and any one-time costs. Compare these details as well as the price per piece.
Step 6: Approve before production
Agree the final specifications in writing. Where possible, approve a sample or detailed confirmation before bulk production starts, so you both know exactly what is being made.
A note on brands and designs
Only use logos and designs that you own or have permission to use. If your reference comes from another brand, ask for an original design inspired by the overall style instead of a copy. If you are unsure, get legal advice for your market.
